Former CEO of multi million-dollar TV company Image Entertainment predicts a huge upsurge in internet television consumers
Five million out of 110 million content consumers in the US already consider the Internet their main content provider. And if [TV/Production/content] executive Martin Greenwald’s predictions are correct, the figures are set to skyrocket. Mr Greenwald has forecast an upsurge that will see over 80 per cent of people worldwide consuming content via the Internet within five years.
Greenwald’s own achievements include Image Entertainment’s notable rise to success, nurturing yearly revenues exceeding 100 million a year.
Likening the market to the beginning of a Monopoly game, where major players like Microsoft (MSFT), Google (GOOG) and Apple (AAPL) are already competing for programming, Greenwald’s current venture, Digital Development Group (DIDG), is poised to become a major provider.
“Content is King,” says Greenwald. “I envision a humungous amount of programming coming (into Digidev’s library) in the next six to twelve months.
“That’s the annuity that we bring to our shareholders; the value of that library as that marketplace grows. In addition, we have developed some proprietary technology that separates us from the crowd and makes our product line that much more interesting.
“I have never seen an industry that is poised for explosion like Internet TV. I am looking at the Fortune 500 people who are going to be distributing for me and it doesn’t get better than that.”
