Mega No Prep King’s Star, James Finney AKA “BirdMan”, and Winner of season one of Discovery Channel’s “No Prep Kings” will be leading the pack of more than 30 big national racing names. Also, Bobby Ducote, AKA LIL Legend, Chris Morton, AKA Boosted GT and Host of Boosted GT Small Tire Brawl on No Prep Kings (Season 2), as well as Kayla Morton and Shawn Wilhoit, female No Prep legends, will be running for the win.
The weekend is being tabbed “Mayhem in Memphis” and will feature vendors and a fun family atmosphere.
No-prep is an evolution of regular street racing. Racers can call one another out, give car lengths to the slower car, and start on a flashlight or arm drop. In “No Prep” racing, the traditional compounds used on the track to create that tacky effect is avoided. In fact, the track receives “no prep” the day before or day of racing. It is a rougher and less smooth service – many call it “extremely dangerous”. It began as a a way for street drag racers to be safer yet avoid the production of a race track. About four years ago, the Discovery Channel produced these racing reality shows that began to create a wave of popularity. It is now called: No Prep Racing.
